There is an already old logger project included in Crossfire. For various reasons, it has never been fully completed. The purpose of the logger was to present game statistics on several webpages. People could check the current status of players, the most famous arena combats or the most visited maps. The thing itself was divided in:
- A CF plugin making a bridge between the server and the database;
- A database containing the various logged stats;
- Some PHP-based webpages to present the results.
Currently, although it is still considered Beta-stage code, it is working correctly with PostgreSQL and Apache. A mySQL port is under way.
The problem is that the webpages are definitely ugly. They were quickly written to allow beta-testing of the logger and were never upgraded since then.
So this is a call for help. What the logger currently need is:
- A better Web design: I'm quite certain it should be discussed about how we should present the informations (for me, this is the easy part);
- Some pictures: We had the idea of displaying a picture of the character on the character sheet. Basically, one picture is needed for each race/class combination. Since it would be quite a lot, probably one picture for each race would be a good start.
Even on that limited basis, the requirements are well above my own skills (I have no artistic formation). So I call for help everyone able to:
- Hold a pencil better than me (shouldn't be too hard to find - as a reference, here is my own attempt to represent an Elf);
- CG scanned pictures (my CGing level could probably be used as an absolute zero reference point);
Picture constraints are:
- They should be saved in the JPEG format;
- They should fit in a standard browser with a screen size of 1024x768;
- They shouldn't eat up all the space - there must be some left to display the character's sheet.
Someone wishing to help ?
Edit: Just replaced the picture by a cleaner one - the previous version was just too crappy
