Yes, there are still sound in crossfire. The fact is to get sound you need:
- a soundserver (compiled at same time as client if there are any supported sound libs like alsa alsa9 or oss, check the box 'enable sound' in client configuration too)
- the sound package installed (it has not changed much, so take the most recent one you find on sourceforge).
But am not sure you *want* to hear those sounds.
Concerning the debian packages, it's that's named crossfire-sounds, this mean it contains sounds i suppose, simply read the package description
Last but not least, concerning windows, there aren't any supported libs in cvs for windows (neither Direct sound nor windows mmultimedia). I think Ryo plans to add windows sound support but it hasn't been done yet.
Sorry its just funny as the 1.5.0 winclient did have sound - not great... but it had sound. while the 1.6.0 AND 1.6.1 (which are not that nmuch of a departure from 1.5.0) do not have sound compiled in... t'was a bit of a surprise thats all...
