Devourer Characters converting revisited

Post by woo »

I did some testing today, and discovered:

A human that followes gaea is fine.
This human switches to devourer and becomes undead. Good.
This human switches back to Gaea and becomes a HUMAN again.

A dragon does the same thing, and remains 1/2 undead - still able to be banished.

So there is not a question of should undead always remain undead, as it doesn't work that way. We need to fix dragons so that they are returned to a dragon race in this case.

Ahhh... that would make sence, as yugi has followed devourers in the past and can't be banished, yet his joey dragon char has become devourers for a time and has'nt been able to return to normal to enter the dragon guild...

Yup, woo had the same problem - and everyone thought it was all char's. When yugi told me about converting back and forth i was like Um... So I went off and did some testing.

there is only one question... should a dragon become a dragon again, or should a human stay undead?

Given that it would be impossible to track down all players who ever worshipped devourer, and make them undead - and it's pretty easy to find dragons who are undead and make them a dragon again.. :D

I understand the argument that once undead, always undead - however I counter with Gaea is the Guardian of Life - if any god can do it - she can. "Historically" in fantasy worlds the idea of redemption has always existed, albeit with nasty side effects. You go get to lvl 100 praying to devourer and convert to gaea .. It hurts :-)

The 'cost' to go from undead to not dead should be to die, and have massive stat depletion...

In addition to the exp loss of course....

Honestly, what's stat depletion do to a high level character? Most of us have stacks of potions sitting around..
The exp penalty hurts anyone, but how does dying help (other then being method to enforce the exp loss)

i dont understand the stat depletion either. dying 'helps' you to loose xp in all skills, not just praying. I cant see the use for that, i would rather think its quite an experience to have been undead ;)
