I put together the following install HOWTO for Windows and the GTK Client:
http://crossfire.real-time.com/clients/ ... html#howto
AFAIK, this portion works..
But, what about this section? Is it still needed for other version of Windows?
http://crossfire.real-time.com/clients/ ... l#install2
Win32 GTK Client Install HOWTO - please test

You may want to mention the issue with GTK 2.4 and the GTK client. You have to close the password dialogs and enter it in the command line instead, otherwise it just asks for a name again.
On my uni computer I'm using GTK 2.2 and that doesn't have the problem. Not sure where you can get the older versions though.

I didn't experience that when I put together the screen shots and testing of the client.GW wrote:You may want to mention the issue with GTK 2.4 and the GTK client. You have to close the password dialogs and enter it in the command line instead, otherwise it just asks for a name again.
I used GTK v2.4.14-rev-a without any issues.

Login screen is not related to GTK version.HolyKnight wrote:I had an issue with 2.6 GTK but 2.4 works good. I noticed on 2.2 GTK it came up and just asked for a name, then a password. With 2.4 GTK It shows a NICE login screen with remarks from the server.
Client will *not* work with GTK 2.6 (haven't yet figured out why), use 2.4 please.
Login screen is a CVS feature, part of the latest snapshot release of client, and should work with any GTK version.

Yeah, HolyKnight's statement about that does confuse me somewhat.Ryo wrote:Login screen is a CVS feature, part of the latest snapshot release of client, and should work with any GTK version.
