This would be of the form follow [playername] and, as long as you were on the same map (true for tiled maps like world map) you would then move to be always in the square two behind where they last walked.
I think a DM version of this command may already be in the making somewhere. Once implemented extending it to be used by all players shouldn't be hard.
Yes, more power to DMs, I see a flame coming my way.
I like the idea of guidebot... or better, a horse drawn carriage, you pay to carry you to another town, and it goes along the road until you either reach destination or the cart gets destroyed by pirates, trolls, or something else hostile.
It would be unnerving to have a DM like leaf follow me around just because he typed dm_follow bort. That would be ultimate policement of a problematic char. The carraige idea I support, but dont axe portals to cities just yet. They come in useful.

Uh, why - this command isn't needed.. the Scorn Jail cells aren't that big!
What did I do this time? Knowing you leaf, If you could follow someone, and go AFK, you would. Watching someone go nuts, saying "WHY ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME?!?"
making it a dm command is pointless, the main purpose of following will be to go to the same place as someone else. It should /not/ be a dm command. Anyway, dm's don't need it, they can just summon to whatever map a player goes to.
This leads to another point, 'who should really display region, not map name, since map name is obtuse and confusing.
Better still, it should display name in region if there is one, or else the full path, and (short region name)
I really should stop adding to my list of things to do.....
