Downloading the Client

Post by Gawain »

I am on windows XP and am looking for a client I can play crossfire with. I am in no way literate with all these various files required in order to make the game work. Can anyone put in very simple terms for the layman, what exactly has to be done to get crossfire downloaded and running? Or has someone already asked this question?

1) download GTK from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gtk- ... e?download
2) install GTK
3) get Crossfire GTK Windows client from http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/cros ... e?download
4) install client
5) launch client

That should do the trick.

Ryo, perhaps we need to make your post sticky so others can refer to it when asked about this. I would do it but I am not a moderator for this forum.

On a related note; any news on the stability of the openGL client for windows xp/2000? I haven't heard anything about it but some people may like it as they can install it direct w/o worrying about GTK.

I installed it on win2k -- it was perfectly stable, but with the screen requiring a high resolution it wasn't very playable on my laptop
