Where to find alchemy recipes?

I'd like to play with alchemy, but can't find many recipes....
I sure could look directly in the source code (rather the alchemy definition file), but that'd be cheating
Is there a nice place in the game to find recipes?

Along with monster and item descriptions, and lists of spells, alchemy recipies turn up in books. There's three places I know of to read books:

• The public libraries
  
  There's one in Scorn, and another in Navar. They don't allow borrowing, so the books are chained to the shelves. :)
• Magic shops
  
  There's rumour of a store that specializes in books.
• And, of course, dungeons.
  
  However, I'm not aware of any dungeon that's particularly crammed with books, nor of a monster that carries library-type volumes.

Fair warning, though: as an example, to make a balm of asbestos (which gives 50 fire resistance for a time), you'll need to have already killed a dragon. Rings (jeweler) are worse.

Oh, yes. Alchemy recipies are described in other places, also; for example, the 'workshop row' in Scorn.

If you have compiled crossfire in your computer, then just run the command with an argument like this:
crossfire -m7

And if not, check share/formulae, which contains all recipes, but without archetypes's names (so you'll see: dust_generic, stuff like that). Harder to read, granted
