Fixing TC ABUSE..

Post by Zortan »

I do believe TC is being abused.. No one explores, because you have easy experience next door, also loads of good eq.

I think.. to solve the problem, there should be a level limit placed upon TC.. There is what, 6 TC's now? or 8?

Well.. the first two are for NEWBIES, so put a level limit (overall of 8?) for entrance.. no one above 8 goes in..

Next two, make it 16..

So on and so fourth..

Can this be done? I believe it should be done.. It would also limit the abuse of higher-level players hoarding low-level TC to train other skills, which they can do somwhere else because now they have enough hp and/or sp to withstand other areas...

Overall, I'd agree. Yet there's the "summoning" aspect for high-levels.

Summons generally suck at killing between lv 15 or so and 20. How exactly is a pile of nearly inefectual sumons an "abuse"?

I understand the map-ownership rules and such, but TC is slightly different.. It's not a map to be solved.. Except for more difficult TC, there is no progression.. you just sit there.. Well.. with 15-30 summoned pets, it's difficult for other people to use the map.. Now I know, this person training summoning was there first.. but.. this is TC, a very special map.. It's for training, and not for solving, so normal squatter rules should not apply. Even still, in TC is there a time limit? I can see solving a quest you shouldn't have time limit, but again, this is not that type of a map. It's unfair for someone to hoard a map for hours at a time.

The way TC is designed, it should be possible for people to share.. pets prevent that.. and are dangerous to newbies who may wonder in..

..also.. why do people keep sitting on switches? Can those be moved to somwhere where people can push an AFK-script trainer off and use the map? DM's aren't always on to move AFK-script trainers to jail or different map, so maybe switches in middle of the room (entrance) would be helpful.

Any way.. I'm starting to dislike the idea of TC.. having them is as bad as scripted leveling..

A relatively new map in the port area of Scorn, called Training Center (or TC for short)

It contains 4 levels with an infinite supply of monsters. One area is all goblins, gnolls and orcs. Another area is all zombies. The third area is all skeletons. The fourth area is all ogres.

There's also 4 other levels which contain randomly generated maps; each area produces monsters from a specific race (giants, dragons, undead and trolls. These maps do not have the infinite generators.

The layout of the maps can allow players to site back in relative safety while their spells or summoned pets do all the work for them.

Did I also mention that the beginner areas have generators located in an area that allows them to produce an endless supply of monsters?

Maps with infinite supply of monsters were frowned upon in the map making guide - It is much better IMHO to have a map that requires a reset (and thus the players have to leave the map once in a while and give others a chance to use it...). When were these added? I agree that if these areas are being abused they should be changed.

IMHO.. what's the point of going through training? To get better.. but typically.. if you "pass" the first time, you don't get to do it again, or it makes it really inconvinient to do it again..

My suggestion.. Well, for one, the lower-4 TC maps, make them reset and not an endless supply of monsters.. Need to stick to map rules!

On top of that, or maybe instead, for all TC.. If you haven't done the Kurte quest to get into Ancient Pupland then you might not know what I'm talking about, but basically when you finish the Kurte quest, you get some flag set or some invisible "KEY" which lets you go to Ancient Pupland without having to do that lengthy quest again.. Do similar thing with TC.. Except the opposite effect.. You do TC once, you get a "diploma" so-to-speak and won't be able to go back.. Maybe give them 3-5 allowances for completing a TC, and after that, you can't go in any more..

TC is just that, TC.. I don't believe it was meant to be the place to go to get experience over and over and over.. what's the point of big maps, any other maps for that matter, when you can get all your experience, equipment, and money in one nifty package, which is TC..

I know this will go back to "Well if someone wants to do something over and over and over, let them".. But I thought the whole point in the game was to promote exploration... Why explore if you can gain experience in the safety of your own TC...

Just my 2 pennies worth.

Time them?

It could possibly be changed to teleport them out after a given time?

You mean the players who are sitting idle in there?

I don't know how that would be done. That doesn't mean it's not possible...

How would the server know that someone is sitting idle on this particular map?

Scripting of some sort?
