Well, I got to try to get CrossFire to work over lunch. I got everything working, but the client can't connect to the server. The server states it is version 1.4.0, but that could just be a misprint (the version number didn't get changed for it maybe). The server shows up in the client when you start it, and I select it 1, for localhost. The server stops and closes then. There are no errors in the window of the client, but in the console is says:
Server returned FALSE on setup command sexp
ReadPacket got an error: No such file or directory
gtk_main exited, returning from event_loop
Any ideas what went wrong?
Oh, I have the version of the server without big or small world
Winserver not running

What OS are you using? Do you have any firewall preventing client or server to connect?
You state '1' for localhost. This either means you have a firewall preventing your client to connect to metaserver, or some other issue (at startup, client connects to metaserver to list server, no server means something is blocked).
Also, you need maps. If you don't have any, the server will not work.

servers...
Well, it can't connect to the metaserver for one good reason, I have no internet. I'm just trying to play around with the game to see what it's like (I'm the Guest trying to figure out the bigworld map thing also).
I'm running XP, and have the windows server running on the same machine, the reason for localhost if I'm not mistaken. I got the bigworld maps and put them in the server directory, under the map folder. Although I did notice a map.tar when I copied them over. It was located in the base map directory. If I untar this, would that make a difference?
