problem with last version - missing features

Post by Guest »

I am a newbie (sorry), just discovered CF one week ago. I downloaded, compiled and installed the following files :
crossfire-1.5.0.tar.gz
crossfire-1.5.0.maps-big.tar.bz2
crossfire-client-1.6.0.tar.gz

Everything seems to work fine, but I saw in these forums that you're talking about serpentman. How come I can't play a serpentman? And how come that, on a friend's computer, using windows, the starting map is different (having 2 beginner dungeons, and the map looks bigger), and last, how come he got 1000 gold coins and 10000 diamonds in his appartments?

i just don't get hit.

Someone was probably referring to a NPC. List of available races can be found from the Crossfire handbook;

Perhaps he has got another version of Crossfire maps? The stuff in his apartments should be his own :P

The serpentman race is available in a CVS version of Crossfire. It looks like you have downloaded the "stock" release of Crossfire from Feb-03

Sourceforge appears to be having problems at the moment, so I can't provide a link on where to download the a CVS version.

For the apartment containing gold & diamonds, that's what i did on my test server, so that players can buy apartment & extender to test stuff. Maybe your friend did the same thing.

As for bigger map & 2 beginners dungeons, this sounds like bigworld maps (versus small world maps), though from your description you did install those.
