Do you believe a 'fullscreen-style' client would be better for crossfire?

Client UI 'pet peeves' and ideas

Post by Rednaxela »

Current UI designs have many issues, for one the inventory dialog is completely mouse controlled, and it would be nicer to have an efficent method of inventory control via keyboard. Also in the gtk clients, focus sometimes goes to the count selector, making it so one can't move. What are some of the things that annoy you most in existing clients? What is important to you in a client? Would it be nice to be able to retain keyboard control of your character while in various menus? Is keyboard control of menus important to you? Do you believe that with proper design, that a 'full screen' client with optional windowed mode would be ideal?

One things to note is that the fullscreen should be default 1024x768, with folding menus, like Daimonin.

I personally haven't tried Daimonin so I'm not sure what you mean by that. In terms of resolution, I agree that is a good default. Also IMO the range of possible resolutions should at least be from 1024x768 to 1280x1024, but would be nice if it could be set up to work in the range of 800x600 to 1600x1200 or so.
