Jumping skill

Just found a scroll of jumping and gained the skill, but ...

I'm jumping around, fine ... may be it has some use somewhere ...

Okay, let's try to level up the skill a bit, kobolds are an easy first aim .. but all my wild jumping didn't even scratch the kobolds ... and of course there was no experience gain ...

Isn't it possible to level up the jumping skill?
