Rednaxela's Current Crossfire Projects

Post by Rednaxela »

Here's a list of CF projects I have done, am working on, or am planning.

Current projects of self:
-Spellcasting swords: 95% Waiting for recent cvs changes to the python plugin to stabalise
-Build repulsion wall spell: 99% Complete, but not in cvs yet. Might make as a prize for the map below
-Currently unnamed map: 65% Dungeon designed for level 95+, no random maps but good exp.
-Python based bot
_____-Protocol code: 95% All done, other than misc bugfixes.
_____-GUI: 75% It's mostly done, large parts of it implimented as AIs
_____-AI framework: 75% Have most of it, just need to add new misc features.
_____-AIs:
__________-General routine (i.e. use GUH when low food): 50%
__________-Battle tactic AI: Not started yet.
__________-Other misc AIs: waiting on ideas for others
_____-Face retriving script: 100% Script to get lists of faces based upon their behavoir. http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.ph ... tid=313833

Project ideas:
-'Circle' spells: Origional idea was mikee's. Spell that makes a circle (not square, but circle) of invisible directors around the player that *only* affect things that the spell itself makes, then the spell fires some of that into the circle. I.E. 'circle of bullets' would make a circle of directors around the player that only affects bullets, then fires a swarm of bullets into the circle. Possibly make the directors follow the player, possibly not, haven't decided that yet.
-Directors that only affect an arch specified in their slaying field: the circle spells depend on this, also useful for other things (i.e. could be extremely useful for certain types of map special effects etc.)
-And many others that I can't remember at the moment

Complete projects:
-Circular lighting: Done and in CVS. Currently on MF, Cat2, and possible some other servers.
-Arena petmode: Done and in CVS. (after some hassel with it causing crashes  )

EDIT: Updated as of August 11th 2005

Nice. Can't wait to play with the new spell.

Yes cat2 has the circular lighting, most pronounced on the lanterns one can buy :).

I think the circle spells should be stationary. Much easier to code and that way it has some draw backs too.

I notice that this is posted in general chat, actually it seems to be the only place suitable for it.

Maybe CFMB should have a devel forum? Leaf?

Indeed, that might be good. One other person for example (can't remember who, but I think it might have been you but I can't find where that post got to) made a todo list on CF related ideas that he's had.

EDIT: Found the other one I was rerfering to, though it's not a seperate topic: http://www.metalforge.net/cfmb/viewtopi ... ight=#5576

Yeah, that was me, as it is looking back quite a lot of progress has been made (more than I expected since many of the things were more amusing things with no real point to them)

4 and 29 were done already and I didn't know it.
2, 13, 21, 35, kinda 38 and 53 have been done to some extent.

That's what the mailing list(s) are intended for.

More "development eyes" read the mailing list then visit here.

Yes, except that mailing lists arn't the best place for todo list type things IMHO, because one might want to make updates to a todo list fairly frequently and on the mailing list it might be considered spamming by some to post updates very frequently.

A section on the message boards might not be the best either though. IMO, neither the mailing list nor the messageboards are that great for todo lists, nor does SF have a nice way for tracking an individual's todo list in relation to a project.

What about making your "Diary and Notes" area public on SF?
