Basically the way I saw it even a ring (resist magic +30) would help a little untill you hit 30 in resist magic. The higher the level of the item + the higher the reistance/bonus the quicker you gain personal resistances.
since it gets harder and harder to get lots of say 75 or higher in resist something items, it would be near impossible to get higher than 75.
WDSM has 95 fire resist, but think of what you have to go through to get it.
How many items are out there that could get you up to the 95% resist that a dragon can achieve in fire/cold/electricity/poison/acid?
Hell a couple of trips through ancient pupland and other high level areas and my dragon is near there.

sorry it was a slight exageration for effect.
But most of the critters in ancient pupland are of higher level so you get more benefit from their flesh.
Seigfrieds, alteir, necro tower, hole under village, castle, and another one I can't fully remember, were some of my favorite Ancient pupland dining areas. I think most of my resistances were in the high 80's when I last played him. But that was when Dragons were still kinda new, so it's been awhile. I miss him, he was my first and only dragon.
