What exactly does an improvement potion do?

Remember you throw dices when you create the character?
Improvement potions make those throws "perfect".

To ellaborate..

When your character levels, they receive a random number of Hp, Sp and Gr.

Using Hit Points as a specific example, and simplified a little bit..

You can 1-4 hit points each level.. the improvement potion eventually turn's those 1's in to 2's. Later on, 2's in to 3's, etc.

So, the potion improves the low rolled numbers gained when leveling. Eventually (~12 potions?) you see a message about being perfect. When that happens, you no longer benefit from drinking potions of improvement.

Since you also get points for the first 10 levels, it's better to wait to be level 10+ to drink many, you could waste some if you already have high stats.
