Armour doesn't add up correctly

Post by dcompas »

Hey,

I am pretty new. Level 10 elf paladin. (maybe this is a bad combo)

One thing I have just noticed is that I can only get my armour up to +67 even though the items I am wearing should add up to +96.

I have:
plate mail +40
full helmet +13
ring armour +29
high shield +8
jack boots +4
gauntlets +2

What is the deal here? All this stuff is new, untouched by acid, uncursed etc.

Is there something I am not understanding about how AC works?

Thanks for any help.

Looks like partial resistance code also applies to armour..

http://crossfire.real-time.com/faq/faq.html#3.2.4.1

plate mail (+40) along with the full helmet (+13)

(100 - 40) * 13% = 7.8; Armour: 47

ring armour +29
(100 - 47) * 29% = 15.37; Armour: 62

high shield +8
(100 - 62) * 8% = 3; Armour: 65

jack boots +4
(100 - 65) * 4% = 1.4: Amour 66

gauntlets +2
(100 -66) * 2% = 0.6; Armour 67 (with some rounding..)

The reason for this is because years past has shown that players can easily become immune to nearly every attack type. Instead of making all the monsters more powerful with additional attack types (which was done to some extent) and/or trying to tweak all the items in existance - how the resistance values add up were instead changed to give the system described above.

Remember, Armour score only applies to physical attacks/damage. It won't protect you from any spells or related damage.
