All communication, actions, etc. is displayed on the right side of the screen

Needed? Probably not.

Helpful to have access to or know? Yes.

The screen shot is not using the split screen feature to seperate communication and "action" and it's not colorized so it's alot of iinformation to process and sift through.

Not always, the screen shot happens to use a map that allows you to see the entire level. There are a number of maps that do not. Other times with range attacks you, if that text was not displayed you would have no idea if you were hitting the monster or not or if/when it was dead.
