It is certainly possible, there has been discussion about this in the past. If I recall correctly as it is setup now it is not the easiest thing because of the way some of the code is done - so there was an argument that before we translate it we should convert it to the code that deals with multiple languages better.

From what I understand, translating the UI would be easy.... however the map content might be a bit tricker.

Some people are working (or wanted to work) on that, tchize & gros/Lauvemark (can't spell his name lol)

Not sure on their progress, though...

Conclusion : c'est pas pour tout de suite :)

Thanks for your answer.

If I translate the user interface in french by example, does it possible to put my work on my website without problem with the Crossfire developpers ?

somehow i dont think the developers would mind, but it might be easiest to just post it here, then have them upload it.

you might also want to document any probelms you had so if it ever gets translated to another launguage, they can get a head start.

the biggest problem i see right now is the french strings not fitting correctly due to size differences...

Sure you can put it on your website, the source code is GPL thus can be reused with the same licence.

As for string sizes, GTK should handle that fine, that's what it's for :)

I would suggest you to contact tchize & Lauwenmark first, though, to avoid duplicating work.
