Teaching skills.
An experienced character can now take a less experienced character along in the party and then go and kill large monsters, thus teaching the new character something about fighting. Perhaps the old character should be able to teach some skills immediatly instead of having to go out and kill things? There would have to be drawbacks of course. It could work as a transfer of xp from the teacher to the student. Depending on wisdom levels of the people involved, more or less xp would be lost during the transfer. It should also take a lot of time. Only a few xp are transfered per use of the transfer skill perhaps ?
Not really an issue
I dont' think skills are an issue...
A high level character (correct me if i'm wrong) prolly has a whole lot of skill scrolls around his apartment, since you do find a lot when playing.... Ok maybe not all skills, but enough to make it worth giving to the newbie.
One of the troubles with this system, i think, is that it aims for 'fast' leveling up / finding items.
One of the fun part of the game, imo, is to find items yourself, or maybe with players around the same level as you.
Yes i did share items with newbies, and partyed with more/less powerful players to share xp....
But still, i slightly think it's not appropriate to the game.
With that proposed system, it would be real easy for a low level player to get up fast... just when (imo) the fun part is getting the first 30 or 40 levels & nice items...
Just my 2 cents of €

I was more thinking about xp for the various skills - physical, mental, etc.Ryo wrote: A high level character (correct me if i'm wrong) prolly has a whole lot of skill scrolls around his apartment, since you do find a lot when playing....
I was more thinking this should be a worse way of getting xp, than the usual party trick, but it should be possible to learn (=get xp in) odd skills like personality. One of the troubles with this system, i think, is that it aims for 'fast' leveling up / finding items.
No, I was thinking it should take a long time, longer then the normal party trick. The teacher should also loose xp while he teaches (have no good in-game explanation for it), so as to prevent someone from doing this all the time. With that proposed system, it would be real easy for a low level player to get up fast... just when (imo) the fun part is getting the first 30 or 40 levels & nice items...

That is what partying is forPathor wrote:I was more thinking about xp for the various skills - physical, mental, etc.

(just ready the skill you wanna level in, and let others kill)
Personality, go train in Scorn's zooPathor wrote: I was more thinking this should be a worse way of getting xp, than the usual party trick, but it should be possible to learn (=get xp in) odd skills like personality.

And if you happen to be Gorokh, play in Heaven, makes soooooo much xp lol
Well then partying is better, so teaching won't be usedPathor wrote: No, I was thinking it should take a long time, longer then the normal party trick. Perhaps teaching should be the only way to learn skills, instead of scrolls? That would encourage more player to player interaction. There could also be NPC teachers which demands some reward to train you - "Fetch me a demonbane and I'll teach you all I know about oratory.". Some guilds could keep some skills/churches inhouse and refuse to teach outsiders.

I like this starting idea of making skills a more quest reward thingy.. anyway new skil system will be different.. but i think that takking on the current one can bring ideas for the new one too.
Anyway skill points will be very nice... you know they are a very successfull way of rapresenting someone skill
