Flying Cape

Post by Janus »

Okay, I'm building a small newbie dungeon, the prize for which is a neato cape. It's just like lev boots, enchantable and all, but it lets you fly.

To the newbies:

Would you be willing to beat your way through patched monsters and solve ridiculously weird puzzles to get a cape?

To the oldbies:

Do you think a dragonman (patched down to be similar in power to a wyvern) is too much for a level 10 or so?

Also, should I add a Flying City quest that requires lev and high levels to complete but offers a ridiculous amount of money as the prize?

And finally, where do I send this when it's done?

Well generally speaking, we really don't need anything that offers ridiculously large amounts of money as a prize :-)

As for the lvl 10 survivability - it really depends on the style of the player (similar to the player class)

first, the flying cape would be good for the exotic creatures that cant wear boots. i would do it just to get the cape as a novelty item, but it would need to have the sam effects as the levetation boots, and possibly a speed boost, or a speed boost when used with the levitation boots.

i would fight a dragonman at level 10, but it might be better to just have a chinese dragon. also the dragonman should be modded to give about the same XP as a wyvern. but also, be aware that dragonmen have a hell of a lot of spells and attacks, and to lower the levels on them too. getting owned by a lvl 5ish dragonman with lvl 30 icestorm is way not cool.

and sorry, but youve been beeten to the floating city thing. go to malb (high tower) in navar, and then enter CityDeClouds. its insanley hard, and a stupidly big reward. i would go for a better heaven quest (scorn/valriels tower). mikeeusa has already done the floating city and a hell quest, so now we need a heaven quest that is better than the one in valriels tower, maybe fight valriel's avatar at the end.

Create a text diff of your map files against the latest CVS at SourceForge

Post the diff at the Patch area on SourceForge.
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_ ... tid=313833

If the file is too large (2+ MB ?) to upload there, ask on here so that other arrangements can be made.

... Which was scooped by the Dragon Terminal of Pupland.

IMNSHO, have similar settings or premise for a map is okay. Just make sure there is something unique about them though.

well, its always nice to see new maps, but that was just a heads up. if you do it, tone down the reward, but maybe increase the XP given out, but make sure it is earnt.

and when you place the map do it in lake county or wolfburg where there arent many maps already...

Okay, thanks! I stuck it in Scorn to start on my server, for ease of development, but yeah, LC would be a good place for it. And the Flying Castle too. I'd make it so it hurt when you fell. I can't do the lemming "oh no" though, as suggested in one board awhile back... They should implement that.

I suspect that was me suggested that, most references here to computer games from the late 80's/early 90's seem to be me :)

As for implementing it, it shouldn't be too difficult if someone can create the sound effect, only problem might be the sound system which (AFAIK) is a little buggy atm (has this been fixed yet?).

Anyways, if someone has a microphone and a helium ballon to hand, you know what must be done....

This could also be done with a little simple sound editing in audacity :-D
