identifying

Post by timbo »

How do I identify an item? Everything says unidentified next to it.

As well how do I search for traps?

Thanks

Scrolls of identify
An altar in the magic shops (careful though, it starts with the top most item in your inventory and goes down)
Skills (smithery for armour, jeweler for rings, alchemy for potions, etc.) ex: use_skill smithery

The "s" key, for search
That will seach, once, in all directions surrounding you and on any items and the ground that you are standing on.

or it starts at bottom, or it starts id'ing the last picked item and go up to the item longest in inventory (or vice versa)
When marking items (mark scroll) it marks the latest picked scroll first

therefore it is useful to press s several times (or even 30 times when you have a low lvl find traps)

until about level 3 find traps I find that even thirty times isn't enough.

I have output-sync set to 10 and hold down s until the message window is filled with '10 times you search the area'

But then I have had low level characters killed by traps several times before.

potion of life.

repeatedly asking for one politley will often get you one, but they can be bought in the magic shops in scorn, and the life shop in scorn.

Buying potions of life is expensive, most low level characters will struggle to afford it. A less expensive, but still reliable, source of life potions is a quest in pupland which always has one at the end. this quest should be quite easy for most characters above about lvl 7-8.

Since this isn't the spoilers forum I shall say no more on this point.

the problem is i was lvl 3, then 4, then 5. no 7-8. nice try, please come again.

that still leaves older players, but if you have 700~800 plat you can try the magic shops, or ~1000 plat for the life store.

If you are bad enough at the game to be unable to hit level 7 you are almost certainly unable to collect enough platinum to afford potions of life.
