Ok everyone, as of this evening my regions patch was committed to CVS.
This means that right now there are various cities in the game that need descriptions.
Head on over to http://crossfire.freezope.org/wiki/CF_l ... efinitions
and fill in the blanks, descriptions of regions and their formal titles.
take somewhere that doesn't have a description yet (or one that has, but that is written by me and therefore fairly crap). Go to the town in question, look at it, then close your eyes and ask yourself, 'where am I' then answer the question and write down the answer in the wiki. If you can't think of a way to describe it, look at the existing descriptions to give you ideas. (and fix the poorly worded ones) If you know the rough style of the town, and the major quests in them, then so much the better, try and stay consistant with them, and maybe even hint at their existance.
If you don't know C or python, and could never figure out how to make maps, then this is your chance to make your mark on the game.

Just to clarify. This is for an in-game command, that is mostly a role-playing function. It is /not/ an effort to update the map summeries on the website (although these descritions may be merged in later).
Being in game there are limits on length too, think 'if my client shows this, is it short enough that I can read it?' If you need three or four paragraphs, then your description is too long.
Think of the descriptions in a text adventure game, or how a dm might describe a town you entered during a game of D&D.
