well i noticed that some classes are missing for new players. The most important one is pyromancy. All the other spellcasting classes are present but pyromancy. I really like pyromany, and se it frequently, but one needs to find a skill scroll or pendant to use it.
I would also like to suggest a new class, shadow mage. sort of like an evil mage. it would also need new player spells, and have the spell system re-done, so failures are pretty much fatal... mostly, the character would have the power of the evil masters right now, with dark spells like night fall and shadow bolts, but spell failures would have to hurt like all hell, or else they would get to powerfull, and would ahve to be denied protection. really hard to level up, with continual death, but really powerful. any suggestions?
2 new player classes

Thing with pyromancy is that a level 1 pyromancer would be over powered, burning hands makes it too easy to level. This isn't an incurable problem, if there were a spell fire bullet that was lvl 1 and burning hands was budged to about lvl 4-5 then it might be balanced enough to be worthwhile.
I like the shadow mage idea, to take it a bit further though, I think what is really being described is a necromancer. If there was a new skill necromancy, then command undead would go there, I like to think there could be a reanimate spell (cast on a monster's remains, and resurrects the monster). The create choas spells would go there, as would face/finger of death, and also a special summoning spell, that summons skeletons, skeleton warriors, zombies etc.
Also a summon vampire watermelon spell should be considered a requirement...
To balance that, denied protection spells, denied healing spells, as well as being unable to worship gaea, valriel, lythander or mostrai (maybe others). Being the conduit for death magic, they would have very high sustinence. I'd like to think that something could be done with their power based on time of day also, so that at night their magic is powerful, and at daytime it is week (repelled everything?).
In fact, maybe you could go even further and make them denied the praying skill altogether. (actually have praying and necromancy as opposites, so that use of one precludes the other). If necromancers were forced to make that choice, and priests were forced the other way, then other classes would get to choose one or the other - but not both. (maybe have a way to forsake one skill and take the other losing all xp in the forsaken one.)
Some cities then could also ban necromancers, as others might ban those with praying.

this rather sounds like modifying devourers than adding a new profession!
the necromancy skill sounds very familar to devourers prayers, i think it would limit both this god (face of death) and all other players (removing command undead from them) quite a bit too much.

Exactly. It would effectively require 2 players to do everything in the game, devourers would be the effective 'god' of necromancers, but the idea of prayers to them wouldn't exist, there would be no over-powered devourer enchantments, and other players would get some of the disease spells that they have. Both would be weaker though, and players would have to co-operate more (or just launch yet more sock-puppets....)
no, i was thinking more of a dark or shadow mage, like the shadow drakes you get from alch. not death, but shadow fireballs would do a hell of a lot of damage. but the important thing is that evil doesnt mean death. look at gorok: evil, but not undead and command undead stuff, just evil.
what i was thinking was actually playing as a less powerfull evil master, but to balance its immense power, spell failures would be fatal, or inserectly fatal: think blasting the hell out of yourself, then being owned by a titan...
and another class question, what is the cold equivalant of meteor swarm?
and yet another: why is ball lightning in evoc, and not under pyro?
which leads to a new topic...

So, new shadow class, which specialises on being invisible/hard to hit, if hit is easy to kill, and has lots of shadow-only spells/skills aimed at sucking away stats/exp/sp/grace/hp/protection and adding them to own.
Then over time gets weaker again so to stay strong needs to continuously eat. Also max protection possible is the same as that of the monsters they kill, so killing something with +100 to most things repeatedly and often should make you immune to most things, whilst killing a variety of immune monsters could even make you invincible for a short while! Sounds interesting, if completely different from what others pictured...

i was thinking more along the lines of a evil master, or anything else summoned from failed alch...
but i also like the necromancer class, but then that needs the necroamncy spell group, with necromancers starting out with it. and yes, theyd have praying. theyd pray to devourers, but then you could always have one praying to gaea...

Unless this was due to a special short range attack, it would be stupidly overpowered. What is not wanted is for a player to go ' oh look a room of chinese dragons - cast burning hands - I am teh invincible' It would have to be a special attack which is unique to that class, and which stops other weapons being used as well. (occupies both hands slots.) It should drain and deplete, but it should do remarkably little damage, otherwise this class would be dragons with armour (overpowered).Casper wrote: has lots of shadow-only spells/skills aimed at sucking away stats/exp/sp/grace/hp/protection and adding them to own.
