It would be nice if the metaserver could give the client the IP of the server if that was configured in the server config so if some of our IP's changed alot or some dns servers went down it wouldn't cause 'rouble.

It would likely be due to an annoying ISP :P Mine does that too.

It's normal, for client isps to:

a: allocate addresses dynamically, as they only get so many
b: not care about the residential clients, as if they want static, they can pay alot more for a 'commercial' account.

I have highspeed access, for cheap, but my ip changes now and then, and to go to a business plan, would quadrouple my costs.

hmm, /me has a residential connection with 8 static IP adresses.....

Having said that it is only 1Mb/256Kb so whilst it might be fairly flexible, it is also very slow. (although not quite as bad as the connection I have when I go home during the holidays...)

Which is still very good compared to the connection I get when I go home during the holidays.
