I wish there was a way to run CF on protected windows systems.
E.G. like playing CF at my library.

Bring it in on some sort of removable media?

But it only accepts floppies and CD's. And does Windoze allow for DLL's to be in removable media?

I'd say you can try to install GTK libraries to some personal directory, and Crossfire too, so that everything is in a place where you can write. Then you can try tweaking registry entries so that GTK can be found by the client :)

Note also that, currently, the client stores keybindings and preferences in Program Files, which is a Bad Thing i plan on fixing someday - it'll use the user's profile, obviously...

well, at my work, i first installed GTK in a user writable directory (c:\temp\worpspace\username\gtk)
it complained about not being able to write in the registry...

Next what i did was install CF in c:\temp\workspace\username\gtk-client

next what i did was launching the client and being annoyed with complainments on lacking libraries.

Next what i did was copying (a part of) the GTK installation in the CF directory, and then everything worked fine.

I cant now check what part(s) i copied, likely everything for i didnt want to find out what was needed and what was not... but it is completely possible to bring both CF and GTK on a removable medium, a CD for example :)

I think copying all the .DLLs in the GTK directories should be enough. Maybe the etc directory, too...

Or simply copy everything, easier :)

copying only the ddls was not sufficient, it also required some directory structure - which i sadly cant remember now :(
