The loss of experience is a significant penalty for dying. Add to this the stat loss, and one tries very hard not to die.
At low levels, one dies quite often. The experience loss for lower levels, while burdensome, is not quite as bad as for higher level characters. However, the stat loss is more of a burden, because the life potions required to reverse it typically costs more than 500 platinum coins, which is quite beyond the purchasing power of newer players.
I think the high price of potions of life makes the 'learning curve' of new players much to steep. I propose that the price be lowered to something like 100 platinum coins, which is obtainable in a reasonable amount of time.
To higher level characters, the difference between 100 and 500 makes little difference.
As it is now, the most effective thing for a recently-deceased low level character is beg someone for a potion of life, which is not fun for either side of the begging.
Potions of Life too expensive

Try alchemy?
Maybe you could try to make some with alchemy?
Formulea isn't too complicated...
Of course you need the alchemy skill for that... And some mental...
Just my 2 cents

I disagree... If potions of life gets almost free, then we might as well just remove the stat penalties...Brossard wrote:The loss of experience is a significant penalty for dying. Add to this the stat loss, and one tries very hard not to die.

What I do at low level is to die 4-5 times between each potion of life... makes me a weaker char, but so does not being able to afford the power dragon mail too...

Lovering potions of life? Imho no way!
Maybe we make them a little more expensive, so you stop try to stop dieing for longer time..
I propose like 10% more for potions of life.
But why this?
Because it's the potion of healing that must be lot cheeper, so newbie can figth for longer time, or simoply with that help he can defeat a monster that is more or less powerfull like him at the price of investing some money in potions. The cost of those potions should be more or less the money earned by the kill of the monster. So in this case what a newbie earns is more xp at cost of money. This will make money more scarce that, as cf is now, is good. Those portions are for use by level 7-10 players, and a similar but more expensive type for 10-15 players.
They should heal not much, but cost that few, so they are used like fast healing.
Healing power of 10 hp for the first and 20 hp for the second sound ok. Those will give possibility to players to use them at fast rate without having to wait they are really low to not waste their helaing power.
Make them Heavy too.. so we prevent hi level players from going around with too much of them, or at least we impair their move a bit.

Actually I think the time, when you need to buy potions of life is very short. There are places, where you get a potion of life for certain from level 6 or 7 on, so you seldomly have to buy such a potion anyways. And then, why lower the price? One might even consider making them more easy to find, but more seldom to buy. Then a hero would have to go for some questing in order to get a potion. I find that thought nice. Need to run around for some time to find something, which you need.

IMO, this approach worked nicely for the permanent stat potions. No longer available in stores, but found more consistantly as quest rewards.mathwizard wrote: One might even consider making them more easy to find, but more seldom to buy. For instance, in one of the treasure vaults in the Friendly Giant's Tower; one of the Raffle 1 rewards, etc.
