Earth walls are yet another problem, [/me waits for leaf to create yet another subthread from this one :) ]

I do think that monsters should attack these when they can't see a player or its pets. This will stop the exploit where earth walls block of high level monsters who are too dumb to realise they are being earthwalled and then zapped repeatedly.

To balance this out a different spell, wall of impedement (only with a better name). That can't be attacked or moved past, but that fade and disappear after a time. I am inclined to think they should also be treated like a golem (no spell point recharge, no other spells at the same time).

maybe a similar thing could be done with a low wall, to encourage archery a bit more since no one seems to use this to any great extent (this requires that the changes to map flags that was being discussed on the devel list a while back takes place though).

Oh dear, I guess that may well nerf things for the map campers, what a shame....

Sure, given that more intelligent means 'pretty much any non-animal'.

Certainly if there is direct line of sight (earth wall with a gap in, through which arrows or spells are fired) Then /all/ creatures should throw themselves at the player and earth wall should crumble before them.

Hm... earthwall should at least stop monsters longer than the casting delay, and a few more seconds so the player has a way to toss a few cone spells. But if you want to stop someone from going around just firing indefinitely. I just want to add some sort of "summon boulder" that creates a movable block, like the one in raffle 1.3. It can't be permanent, but should allow one to steambolt long enough to level sorc.

Which makes me think of another point. If monster become smart enough to break earthwalls, then should'nt they also move boulders that are in the way if possible?

However, I think that earthwall should last at least 10-20 seconds in most cases. and something like such a summon boulder spell should last longer (several minutes), but only creates one and is easy to accidently move, and perhaps should have some sort of other disadvantage (perhaps like golems with no spellpoint recharging, but unlike golems one is still able to cast other spells if one has the mana avaliable without losing the boulder)
