I haven't got any stats on this one, but certainly it would seem to be the case that a number of newbie players skip out the newbie house and go straight to scorn without knowing how to use items/buildings etc.
I therefore propose that gates be added to start/nexus that are opened with a switch. This provides a minimum neccessary competence test, if they can't open the gates, they need to go to the newbies house.

You know the tricks using hidden boulders and gates for special effects, you could use that to create a delay for something that closes it. (think of the boulder moving in the raffle1, only a longer tunnel, and with no forks.)cavesomething wrote:The issue isn't actually getting a gate to trigger open, it is getting it to close again.

Round and round the boulder goes, where it stops, the newbie goes

A newbie 'winning' and getting teleported into the middle of the WDSM quest could prove most amusing....

Gate triggers are what the boulder have been substitued for. But not bad having a randomizer location, if the newb like it.

Yeah, but I can't make them work properly, I am sure it is just my being incomptetent.bort wrote:Gate triggers are what the boulder have been substitued for.
newb like it? it is a question of if we like the newb. This is judged the number of bizzarre and inventive ways they find to kill themselves.bort wrote: But not bad having a randomizer location, if the newb like it.
Which reminds me, it must be close to the first anniversary of the departure of eat from MF.
Eat was an awesome newb, probably the best that MF will ever have.
A toast, to eat, the perpetual newb
