Yeah, I've found that too. What's good though is casting severals nighfalls, and then using it. Then only creatures with both see invisible and infravision can find you :)

A valid fact, but I've notice that nightfall is not that effective, and many players dont have it. Also, there are too many monsters with invis detection, when there should be few.

That was before I got show invis. To note, there are
no items yet that have see invis for players. that should be added too.
Players should be able to wear an item that shows invisible objects and people too. But that is unimplemeted yet. This is also before I set listen 0, and ignored him.

Hogwash. Just add stealth. I've partied with a player that had nightfall and we both used stealth. 5 or 6 casts and NOTHING sees one unless it has infravision, period. All demons have infravision (I think) which makes sense if one considers it. I've not checked to see which others have infravision - most undead perhaps, which also makes sense.

If you want to try it I know a player that is high level inscription and can write scrolls of nightfall. I'll ask him if he will give you a few to try it. Remember, it takes 5 or 6 casts to make near total darkness and you need to add stealth. Of course If your character follows Valriel none of this will work.

Elf characters are supposed to have infravision, although I am still unsure of quite what it does.

Infravision = see in the dark.

Don't attempt to change the direction of this discussion to only "low level" players. That is disingenuous.

Any relatively low level (under level 50) devourer humanoid can wear elven boots. Others that are over level 13 can wear ring of Thieves. Once they get 150Gr with any combination of stats + items they can get nightfall. The ones I know that have done this concentrated on praying and had enough Gr to get nightfall by about level 30.

Now, are you trying to tell me a low level character was able to go survive a quest to get an item that gives permanent invisibility? All on his/her own? That is how this discussion started IIRC, someone complaining about an item that grants invisibility "not working". If a low level character has such items I'm willing to bet they didn't do it alone. =)
