Frightening Monsters

I like the idea of permanent aura of fear around those creatures.. It's not as big as the actual fear spell, just 1 or 2 squares around, but just enough for something small to keep away from you...

but only if you are x levels above the other. x can then be dependent on a sort of horror factor and your distance from the monsters. also monsters should be able to have a horror factor as well. mabe the monsters horror factor can give some sort of resistance against others horror factor.

Sounds a bit complex to me. I think the fear spell is enough - most "scary" monsters use it already..

I like that idea. Or maybe the fear spell should be changed to be like this. Fear should rather be an attribute of a monster than a spell.
Snakes, spiders, etc. don't cast spells but some people are still afraid of them and wouldn't go near them though probably few would really run away.

I just dont like the idea that a level 50 player/monster can be afraid of a level 10 player/monster.

mind you, I have never realy noticed any effects of fear on a player anyway.

Don't forget the story of an elephant and a mice.. Wasn't the elephant afraid of the mouse?

All I'm saying is.. fear should not be completely level based, it should be race/class based as well.. Warriors would fear magic users, since they don't understand magic... up to a point..

Speaking of which.. Why isn't there a Hero system in crossfire? fighters (magic and physical alike) should receive hero status as they slay beasts.. For example.. if you slay 10 ancient fire dragons, you should be Zortan the Fire Dragon Slayer... if you slay, let's say all types of dragons, you should be Zortan the Legendary Dragon Slayer..

Demon Slayer... Undead Slayer.. etc.. etc... perhaps the 10x requirement isn't high enough, or the creatures to slay need to be tougher.. After level 20 or so, dragons in the caverns are a cake walk (less than 20 you have poor equipment and it takes forever to kill them in the caverns)..

that would be interesting. like a resevoir of attainable titles like in Tales of Destiny 2 or something. It might not be worth the effert of putting it in, but it would be neat to earn titles like that.

I like the idea of earning an honorific title based on kills (but you have to pay LOADS of money for it too. Take this as it is, dont' oppose to this, it's needed to fix cf economy).
It becomes trivial to do too as soon as hoz get incorporated in the game.
Note:
Hoz is a bot that currently keep a very detailed and efficent stat database, it report kills, deaths, kills by type and so on in a very customizable request method.
