Mithril is not real, but i think Kevlar will do...

ACC to LotR mithril is "light as a feather"

OK, like wearing Kelvar whilst submerged in water, with appropriate flotation adjustemnts.

if you are submerged in water with 'floation adjustments' then there are two possibilities:

1) you won't stay submerged for very long
2) you won't be able to care about being submerged for very long......

But mithril should not be heavy, but then again, in crossfire, the dead live, wraiths can beat dragons no sweat, and people go by strange pseudonyms.

Uhh getting off topic arent we here? And yea, We are going under the assumption that one-handed weapons rely only on your ability to use a sword with one hand.. and who says your using a sword? You could be using a Twig/Dagger and then the shield will not affect you too terribly much. And if your saying Oh I had troubles walking around with shield,sword and chainmail.. really.. knights in the old days fought battles in full platemail.. we just arent fit enough to say we should be able too.
