Banishment kills
Moderator: Board moderators
You misunderstand, undead can be killed by banishemnt of sorig, mostrai, ixalovh, and even gorokh. what if you made it so only gaea does damage to undead. after all, undead is an enemy race...

Sorig is denied turning, so they do not have access to the banishment-like spells.
Holy word against undead is suppose to (or used to..) work like fear. Depending on the level difference between the caster and the undead target the undead either flee or die. This works for everyone who has access to holy word.
For followers of a cult, holy word (and related spells) also causes heavy damage to the "enemy race." That is an added benefit of being a cult member (but as we all know, there are also drawbacks for a cult as well.)
So, a follower of Gaea - their holy word does 3x damage against undead.
For those who have prayer based spells but do *not* belong to a cult, their prime method for gaining prayer exp is by using banishment against undead. IMO, this function should not be removed or taken away from those players.

Monsters have cast banishment of sorig. with rods of banish. i dont know why, or what determines the god to blast undead, but it did happen. my wriath can cast banishemnt of dev with a rod of banish. so it is possible.

Banish of devourers doesnt kill anything, including undead, and undead are meant to be hit by all gods holy words etc(even the gods that are denied turning) . This is why I suggested earlier that a cloak that gave undead immunity to all gods but Gaea and their opposite god, but that idea did not seem to sit well and was thus rejected. So eh, undead will hafta live with it.

Make it so only Gaea can kill undead. No other god can. Gaea hates unnatural/ undead. But no other god has undead clearly specified as enemys. Lythander hates goblins. But you do not see that he openly hates undead. therefore, make only gaea banishments kill. Simple enough.

Simple, huh?
Well, I suppose it is.. "holy" prayer magic damages undead.
How do you propose players who are not part of a cult gain praying experience then?
Wounding spells only, and without other cult granted benefits?
That's Sorig with an added challenge level.
Why force players to choose a cult?
Let them weigh the costs and benefits of joining a cult, and then which cult.

Undead are hurt by holy power, holy word etc(this includes banishment) are holy power spells, I dont see the confusion here.. They get owned by holy power everyone of those spells uses holy power.. thus we get owned.. nothing to change.. and Woo thats a bit odd that devourers killed you... its not meant to be able to deal any and I mean ANY damage at all to undead.. And I got hit by a wave of it and it just passed right on through.

Shouldn't banish of Devourer hurt race animals? As a counterpart to Gaea.
