Corridor of connection

Post by Casper »

Has anyone else noticed that as the world grows and there are more places added to it it starts to take longr and longer to get from place to place?

What i am suggesting is to make it easier to get from place to place. Make a long corridor-like map with doors on either sides of it. Have each door connect to an appartament somewhere in the universe. Also have each apartament have a door leading into this corridor. This will enable players to quickly move between apartaments they own.

As players can only access apartments they own low level players will not be able to get into high level areas. Since you would need to get to the apartament to buy it exploration would still be encouraged.

I'm not an opposer of taking walks, and I have even taken an opprotunity to explore otherwise unreachable islands with dd, jsut sometimes you really want to get from here to there, and don't want to do it with 2 dragon trips, and short hike, and then take a boat.

one important point, it should cost money to do this.

Maybe have daypasses for the exits to the apartments from this map, make some of the higher level areas 10000 pp or more, that should help reduce surplus cash in the game.

All (new style) apartments are connected. You can live in Scorn and have a portal to every one. Dragon transports are not too annoying. Compare them to walking.

Of course, if you happen to base yourself in places like Nurenburg or Navar, you will have quite a fun time...

I guess portals couldn't hurt, but none must reach places that are intended to be far away and annoying. I don't want people portaling to the Temple of the Fallen, because the walk really is the hard part.

Mountains are annoying. I'll agree with that.

10k plat is a lot if you collect loot, but with alchemy, it's not enough. Also, day passes get annoying. Of course, an up front fee of a mil diamonds would (possibly) be enough for lifetime access.

Some say that the dark forest is more than just a dangerous and unruly place.
Some say that this forest has grown 'sideways' in some places and that the elves know of quicker ways than roads...

Can we have a portal that connects our apts?
That'd be really useful.

I already suggested that, and cavesomething did a proof of concept map that connected two apartaments together. It also produced monsters in the connecting corridor, so travelling through it was fun on my local server :) I'm not sure if he is willing to make that into a fully featured map though or if anyone else plans on making a map like that.
