How about for the various elemental rings (fire, cold, storms, acid) that they also give the attack type of it's affinity.
(ex Ring of fire adds fire attack type)
This would be a great help to those fireborns, Q's and even the humanoid classes. It would also allow all races to complete certain quests where a certain attack type is needed, but denied to those that can't weild weapons. (ancient pupland for example, and yes I have tried it with the spell, but he heals too fast for me to defeat him)

I like it, not that my opinion counts for much. then I could defeat the troll in gorks grovel. But even though trolls are -100 against cold, and I cast cold spells, he doesn't die.

If fireborne already have attacktype fire, then what's the use of getting it again? Whereas, getting attacktype cold would be nice. The point of attacktypes is to let everyone have them, so putting them into rings would be nice. One thing, I think the necromancer's ring might give attacktype death. I've yet to have enough karate level to test mine properly. Just one thing, fireborn wear four rings. Does that mean I get attacktype: fire, death, poison, ice, acid? You'd better limit the rings somehow, not necessarily item power, and make some nice quests. As for (spoiler), I don't think even atacktype (spoiler) on a fireborn would work. You'd need the attacktype in a decent non-diety-specific spell. I've been portaled to the guy once, and I am thankful he was behind an earthwall.
I honestly think that wearing multiples should give multiple bonuses (maybe half of previous bonus)
that way with +fire attunment or +fire attack you get X bonus (whatever it is now), but put another one on (ring or other) and you get +1.5X bonus.. another ring/amulet and you get +1.75X bonus.. so on and so fourth..

With resistances (which I didn't address) I would think that +90 would still be the limit for normal equipment (not a potion).. but it would allow to counteract negative effects of race/class/god..
