permanent protection or resistance?

Post by jan »

Is there any way to permanently increase a character's protection against eg. poison? I can see the point in having to prepare for the task ahead so it isn't just a mindless kill-as-you-go sort of game, but in some cases it gets too difficult; eg. I have now (lvl 10) successfully dealt with wyverns, trolls and chinese dragons, but skulls are too tough, and they seem to come many at a time.

A character ought to slowly gain protection against ceratin types of attack when they survive - eg. diseases and poison; this would be similar to real life.

I used to think that Cyclops were "too tough" too and those are much, much, much tougher than skulls. Once my character(s) had the right equipment, reached a high enough level and I learned how to fight Cyclops I realized I was being silly.

With several diseases one does gain immunity to the level of the disease one survives. However, I don't believe poison works that way for whatever reason the almighty developers decided. Perhaps an oversight. Best thing to do is to learn the prayer "cure poison" or carry scrolls of same.

Apart dragon characters, you can't gain permanent resistances.

That's what equipment is for :)

Also, you can use prayers, potions and such - not permanent, but better'an nothing.

And no, poison doesn't give you permanent resistances either.
