What happens to my character?

What happens to characters that were standing somewhere in a map, when the server comes back up? (I asked this in another thread, but no replies, so I try here).

I was standing in a fairly safe area, but I can't log on for another several hours, so if the server comes back up, will I just stad there and starve to death repeatedly until I run out of stats? I feel the correct thing for the server to do is to put disconnected characters to sleep - perhaps in a public hospital? And perhaps this should cost something, I don't know, but anything would be better than losing all of your experience etc.

you should be automatically logged off after 15 mins of not being connected, however if the server crashed you are put at your last bed to reality, without starving..

Unless you can starve inside of 15 minutes, that could be ugly..
