Any way to set default attack?

Post by Zortan »

My guy knows karate but he also has flame touch. Flame touch does more damage and is higher level.. How do I get my guy to default to flame touch when I hit something rather than karate? It always seems to go to karate...

I'm sure this has been asked before.. please let me know! it's annoying to be trying to fight your way out of a jam and attack with the wrong thing and die as a result..

I don't think there is a way to set the default attack automatically.

I just bind my different attacks to a key and make sure I switch before I start running into things...

On the other hand this has caused my dragon Char some mischief when as in when I intended to get xp for Clawing I got it in Karate instead... but no biggie as I wanted to lvl up both.

Binding keys is fine and dandy, but if you do use_skill clawing and there is no creature around, it will not switch to that skill till you actually point in a direction of a creature and hit it.. you could be loosing valuable seconds switching skills.. meanwhile someone sends tons of hellfire on you and boom.. you dead..

True, this has been asked before. I'm very unsure about this but if I recall right, someone claimed that the physical skill chosen automatically should be the highest one. If your claim about flame touch being more powerful than karate is true then this seems to be broken. Or I just happen to remember things incorrectly.

I'd like to hear comments from a developer.

I checked again, and again it defaults to karate.. My flame_touch is 5 levels higher than karate and does lots more damage and wc is better.. so by what you said it should default to flame_touch, and something is broke :)

my clawing is lvl 106 and karate is 8 -- it still defaults to karate :-)

Although from everything I have heard, you can't change the default either, just use ready_skill as was said above..

Default skill changes each character joining, I think.

After all inventory (including skills) is loaded, default attack skill is first found. But code loads in reverse order, so each time inventory is inverted.
Thus one time you'll get karate, the next clawing or whatever.

Indeed, I just reconnected about 10 times and it does seem to toggle -- although it doesn't always toggle if I kill the client (probably because of some different connetion proces if I am already logged in) -- bot otherwise seem to toggle. I guess I just have to log in/out/in to play :-)
