For couple of days now monsters were able to use wands/horns and the like. This resulted in many of them casting spells that they never used to cast before.
Going for an easy ride though humanoid tc I spotted an interesting message on my screen : "1 times wizard killed Salathar with banishment of Gnarg."
As far as I understand Ganrg's banishment should hurt undead and enemy races (Faerie, Dwarf). I am an elf, not undead.
What troubles me is why was I hurt by Gnarg's banishment? After all its another 1.5bil to regain now. Any ideas ?
Interesting death

It's an old bug : i follow Devourers, then i am undead, and i was killed by banishment cast by a lich (this happened 2 or 3 months ago)!
Furthermore, as you were level 110 (am i wrong ?) the level of the banishment spell should be 111 (am i wrong again ?). I thought that the max level for a rod was level 110 (but maybe i am still wrong...)

I am currently level 111, and it is the second time in the last 12 hours that I am deeply upset by "1 times wizard killed Salathar with banishment of Gnarg."
I am not sure how levels of banishment are related to overall character level. There is no reason why I should be undead, I have only ever worshiped Ixa and Sorig.
If I am not undead, and my race is not hated by a god, then this god's banishment should not hurt me, right ?
So far I am only hurt by Gnarg I will try to experiment further to determine if any other god hurts me. Please help me to understand whats going on

This sounds right Malicus. Just found confirmation in archetypes.

An Elf is a child of Faerie, a scion of
Lythander. Being of Faerie, they heal more
slowly than other races, but mana flows into
them more quickly. They also need far less
food than other races.
Every elf is taught the use of a bow, but
their long lives allow them to take up any
trade. They are weaker and less hardy than
humans, but quicker of body and mind, and
generally make more powerful spellcasters.
However, they have a notoriously offhanded
attitude toward their religious devotions
and make poor priests.
As a race, Elves possess a preternatural
beauty and eyes that see into the dark.

It is still quite a pity that elves are actually faeries, but it makes perfect sense from the balance of the game point of view
Oh well, I will have to find another way to slay wizards now
