The internet client is slow on my computer. Could an expert tell me where to find a fast internet client ? Also, on the internet version I have never met other people. Why is this?

PS I like dragons, do you?

Whic operating system are you using?
What server are you playing on?

Crossfire is only an internet-based game (though you can still run your own local server)

I am running Knoppix 3.3, which is installed. I am not running from any server, but a GTK client.

You don't run CF from a server to play the game. That was not the question. Regardless ...

What server are you connecting to for playing CF? There are many servers that have very few players on them. The most active server is crossfire.metalforge.net which is usually running very close to the latest CF CVS code. It is a fairly active server. Before playing there please go visit the server rules and etiquette page:

Metalforge Server Etiquette, Rules & Guidelines

Those rules and guidelines are enforced on the server by the DMs. Players on crossfire.metalforge.net are expected to understand and follow the rules and play with "the spirit of the rules" in mind.
