A simple idea to make the character more individual. Each humanoid class has 2 gfx, male and female. Dragons, Fireborn, et al. don't require additional images anyway.
Stat effects:
Male +1 Str. Male player gfx.
Female +1 Con. or +1 Dex (whichever makes more sense) Female player gfx.
And before anyone mentions something about the Scorn noblequests, there were female knights, they were just very rare. A macro might need to be added to the texts that allow gender specific responses.
Ex. To become a Prince[gen=f]ess[/gen] of Scorn, step on to the Pentagram to receive your quest.
Anyways, its just food for thought, as I see there's a lot on the dev-team's plate as it is, and it doesn't really affect gamplay that much.
Notes on update script:
Optimally: The upgraded PCs default to male. If they wish to change to female within the first few days of update, they can ask a DM to run a gender-switch script. This will allow established characters able to be salvaged, and revamped. After the update period, the gender-update option is closed.
So, any ideas, comments or commiserations? Probably best to consider a few versions on, though, since the current client won't support the images.

I don't see why the client wouldn't support the images... It would support them just fine.
If someone would draw the graphics it would likely be put in. I am still trying to simply animate and maintain the PC graphics we already have.
There is also a desire to put in class images for different races (like a dwarf cleric or a halfling wizard). There is an other option that would be nice I think that instead of drawing one for each class I would like to see a command to be able to change between your race image and your class image as this would let you get dressed up or not as you like.
These things are all quite possible but require the graphics (comparable to existing ones) to be developed prior to being implemented...

I definitely agree. I can't wait 'til I can upload a transparent picture as my PC graphic. Or one containing only one visible pixel.Ryo wrote:Even more customizable: let players upload their own graphics
Whether for themselves or their weapons

Hm... it seems to me that you are digging up old posts to say that you agree with something that was said months ago gumbyscout... old topics shouldn't be brought up unless you are adding a suggestion, otherwise its become hard to tell between the "now" topics and the ones that fell out of favor months ago.
To add my suggestion for this topic, I think that we should be able to send in a custom pic that is ok'ed by a wiz when we reach a certain lvl or do a certain quest, for example you become lvl 80 and you are a prince/princess by doing the scorn king's quest

Aside from the security and coding issues, allowing people to upload their own images would make the game look like crap in my opinion. The images for players are animated and sized and referenced to each other and the other objects in the game. No one will say CF has fantastic graphics but there is a consistant look (two actually) we are working towards. The player graphics are actually 4 directional and two frame (8 images for each image set) but the code can actually handle 8 directions and more frames. Uploading a clipart image would be backward progress. It is a huge work makingf graphics...I would much rather see people put effort into submitting suitable art than making the code to allow uploading any old pictures.Logwad wrote: To add my suggestion for this topic, I think that we should be able to send in a custom pic that is ok'ed by a wiz when we reach a certain lvl or do a certain quest, for example you become lvl 80 and you are a prince/princess by doing the scorn king's quest
Plus any server admin can use their own images if they like...

player customization
Most online games don't allow you to upload on the fly your 'art works' but what we could perhaps do is let player choose in a set of picture trusted pictures
