I am running the GTK Unix Client 1.6.0 under Debian testing. After prolonged play the client crashes. Thanks to a handy little monitor App I have found that the memory on my system gets used up completely before these crashes. I would like to point out I have 1024 MB of memory. This process is accelerated by intense game play, summoning, or any repetative action ( such as praying or meditating ). After some examination of the problem I think it is that the GTK client does not clear the message box ever.
If this problem has been dealt with in more recent clients then feel free to resond in a violent manner towards me and my family. If not please inform me of any progress.
GtkClient Memory Leak

what i've been having to do is enabling the 'split windows' option in the settings. this doesn't stop the memory leak but it seems to help slow it down a great deal.
as for the messagebox, i think there's a command called 'clear' or 'clearmessage' or something along those lines that will clear the info window(s) :]

ive got a similar problem. after long play or when i spread some deseases my client crashes and with it at least my x window system. i tried to periodically clear my info but it didnt helped.
i use debain testing too and the gtk client 1.6.0 .
as i once tried to predict the crash i switched to bare console to watch for any error messages and as the X and gcfclient crashed it said something with malloc.
