SDL Client for Beta-Testing available

Post by Lauwenmark »

A new SDL Client for Crossfire is available here.

Two packages are actually available:

- One contains the source code. Download it if you plan to rebuild the code by yourself, or if you want to use the client under *nix systems;

- The second one contains an executable installer for Windows. It installs only the binary version of the program.

Remember that this is still very beta quality - don't start crying like crazy if something doesn't work as expected.

Feel free to report me bugs or constructive comments about it (I mean, it doesn't matter if you like/dislike it - on the other hand, *why* you like/dislike it is important).

Supplementary notes...

The latest update has been made on November 6th.

Recent additions still untested under Win32. The EXE installer is from the 15/10 version.

Short notice to the 06/11 version:

There is *no* make install;
configure isn't updated yet.

I downloaded and tested the source on linux. The interface looks nice, but I'm not able to set my characktername to login. When I press enter on a given server, I get a new charackter it seems. In the new game I'm unable to move my player or interact with any gui control. Is this is error on my
side, or is this not implemented in the beta yet?

thanks,
Egon

Theorically, the client in its current state allows you to login and do whatever you could do with the standard gcfclient.

However, it may be because of a bug. Supply more informations about this problem if you want me to dig it out (Either by PM, email or IRC if you happen to find me there)
