I'm starting this thread to discuss magic using classes, which are among my favourite but appear to have some obvious flaws.
Alchemists - Don't start with the summoning skill, which prevents them from learning the alchemy spell - a spell they're not only recomended to learn but also seems core to their class. I may be missing something though...
Warlocks - Arcane requires no armour which doesn't mesh well with being a fighter/mage hybrid. The use of a talisman seems to disrupt things as well causing equipment issues mid combat (as far as I can tell).
Evokers - fine with these for the most part
Wizard - I have a larger problem with the Sorcery spell tree, though I understand its potency and flexibility, it lacks low level AOE. The reliance on a talisman also seems to limit their spellcasting potential unless you learn skills inherently.
Devotee - love this class
Sorcerer - it's like the wizard but more constrained thanks to a lack of praying.
Summoner - No low level aoe but the golems make up for it. Seems like a solid class but gains access to the alchemy spell, which seems wrong.
Pyromancy - If there's ever a 16th class, please give it this skill. I actually expected the evoker or sorcerer to have access to this skill, it seems odd that they don't.

And even if they did start with summoning, they would have to wait until level 6 in summoning to use the spell.klippy wrote:Alchemists - Don't start with the summoning skill, which prevents them from learning the alchemy spell - a spell they're not only recomended to learn but also seems core to their class.
And a scroll of summoning (or even a talisman) is rare and expensive, so low-level alchemists are in quite a bind. The only reason I could afford a talisman is my private server decided to reward me with 4,000,000,000+ platinum coins when I sold something. (that comes out to 400K+ amberium, if you were wondering)
The only reason my dragon alchemist made it to level ten is from the treasure maps in the randomly generated houses. Additionally, since that character is only level two in summoning, I am only able to use any alchemy scrolls I come across (which I hadn't realized until I started writing this).
It seems to me that the spell alchemy needs a different type of magic to fall under, if not its own type.
That SilverNexus guy? You needn't worry about him.
