sounds on 1.9.1 GTK Windows client?

Post by penbrock »

I read 1.9.1 fixed the sound issues but I do not have sounds yet. Am I missing something?

Sounds are disabled for the Windows client afaik.

Or you may just be missing the sounds directory, which is only available through CVS :)

The only sound issues that were fixed were ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) issues. (Also, sound in general needs a complete rewrite in the opinion of many developers)

FYI, I once had a long-standing sound problem on one of my systems that nobody could help me with, then one day I replaced the .crossfire/gdefaults file and sound started working again. Mine had been broken somehow (probably something I did).

Removing ~/.crossfire/sounds...

Even more recently, removing ~/.crossfire/sounds fixed a sound problem even though the files in that directory could be played directly to /dev/dsp when the client was not active.
