The way the game is balanced atm, losing inventory would be seen as /worse/ by most players than losing exp.

Not enough players carry most of their wealth around with them to make losing gold/plat an issue either.

Personally, I would favour death causing the loss of inventory items, IMHO there ...

should be after you log in, it promts you to load a keybing set. it should also have a link in the menu so we can call it for spellcasting.bind and fighting.bind. then we could also map it to keys, so F11 does spellcasting, and F12 will be my warior.

Should be easy enough, there would have to be ...

Looking at the code in the gtk client, it seems it does try to use
playername.keys on win32.

Ideally, we'd have functions like:

clear_key_bindings()

load_key_bindings(key set)

On client startup, it would load a default keyset.
It would then scan the keys directory, and turn each keyset found ...

Would it be difficult to add this as a
spell_control_list (list of spells)
spell_control_action (enable/disable)

enable meaning, the spells in the list, and only those spells are enabled.
disabled meaning the spells in the list cannot be used, any others can be.

So, the entire list of spells in ...

It is somewhat inconvenient to have a user for every crossfire character though, especially since I tend to install clients in $HOME

it also wouldn't preserve other settings, such as screen size and window layout, changing them a half dozen times would be at best inconvenient.

Besides which it is ...

Snipping out the for/against dms ranting...

Consider if there were a constable of scorn who could gaol players with a special cone spell, and if the players who were gaoled could choose to exile themselves instead. (outside scorn, not to return for n days.)

This sounds interesting, real live ...

Small question, why does your IP change every now and then? 8)

It's normal, for client isps to:

a: allocate addresses dynamically, as they only get so many
b: not care about the residential clients, as if they want static, they can pay alot more for a 'commercial' account.

I have highspeed ...

I think the same thing should happen, as happens when they get disconnected and the server detects it.
(isn't this just improving server detection?)
I would think the above notes could be improved bandwidth wise,
by the server pinging the users, much like irc.

If they recieve a message from the ...

I havn't experienced this banishment kills yet,
but making rods slow to recharge makes sense to me.
Other games I've seen that included rods, had them set to something like
one charge every 5 seconds, or more.
(I think it was mangband that had that, can't remember now though).
This still made the ...

/me wishes for a poll where 1000 people reply...
I could probably arrange that, if you wanted people like "foo0001", "foo0002", "foo0003" ect, although it would probably be short-lived as I got banned :)

It is interesting that the older users are leading the poll. Although based on others I know ...
