Chance of Critical hit

There should be a chance of critical hit, either an intrinsinc added to weapons, or a charector based attack. Critical hits would theoretically double or less the damage cause in one off beat hit. But Since they would be rare, one could not score critical hits all the time.

You hit Titan.
*23* You hit Titan
You hit Titan critically
You hit Titan
You killed Titan.

See? It would add a bit more chance and gambling to the game.

And if the titan hit you for a critical hit?

Same thing applies, you get damaged, except it is a bit more than usual.

Presumably luck would then be far more important?

Yes. Luck and critical hit would be interleaved, because a low luck means you have to hack a lot more.

No good swordsman with lousy luck can land a good hit that is based on luck. :P
If you had -1 luck, as is common, critical hit would not really be affected. However if you had -2 and larger negative luck, then a coder can safely assume that the player is undeserving of lucky hits. Positive luck gives a higher chance than normal of scorin critical or "lucky" hit.

Shame. mine was -33. But critical hits would add a bit more spice to Crossfire, because many battles and fights were sometimes determined by luck and skill.

maybe there should be a criticalness, value for weapons? that is if they get a critical, the effect it should have.

Presumably there should be critical failure as well? (drop weapon, hit self, have weapon stick in monster)
