I find the rules for metalforge a wee bit contricting. After all, a little spoiler accidentaly shouted jails you seems a bit overkill..

Jail time for a spoiler? Are you sure?

That looks like a log of some kind you are quoting from.
Where/what is it? How can I see it?

It's from the DM Board in the Hall Of DMs (/HallOfDMs), it works just like the message board in the Imperial Post Office.
Only DM's have access to that area and the board.

Actually, I'd prefer jail to muzzling, but muzzling is kinda like a mouth jail, for a whole day/night, which becomes quite a nuisance.

That rather depends on your perspective. From where I'm sitting it works very nicely indeed.

Not after you've been muzzled, then someone shouts an obvious question you know, and you really want to demonstrate your knowledge, but can't.

Does it not occur to you that maybe answering newbie questions should be in order to help them rather than demonstrate how much trivia you can memorize?

that too. honestly, helping newbies and showing off how much you know is part of the game.
not to mention, it puts you in the knowitall catagory, instead of the knownothing catagory.

Really yes - the server admins should set the tone. I can't stand the chatter on metalforge and if I ran a server I would lay down strict rules when shouting was allowed - muzzling everyone who used it for chat. I don't run a server however so I follow the rules on the server I'm on. Other servers encourage shouting for the sense of community - you follow the house rules is all...
