Has anyone ever tried playing non-dragon race and worshipping Gaea? It propably makes close-combat really frustrating but what if I played purely spellcasting character?

But If you have decided to do that, then you might as well play a dragon for the better attacks with clawing.

How about a fireborn/monk character ? Who would primarily be a spellcaster.. but then given 4 fingers for rings, there is nothing stopping you from being as deadly as a dragon in the close combat with a necromancers ring

The necromancer's ring is found in ancient pupland.
This ring is enchanted by the art of necromancy. The wielder is able to perform death attacks. (attuned:Death)
