I just installed crossfire-1.6 server and when I try to start it I get the following error message:

Reading archetypes from /usr/share/crossfire/archetypes...
Can't open /usr/share/crossfire/archetypes - not a regular file
Can't open archetype file.
You Need a archetype called 'map' and it have to contain start map

I've insalled crossfire-1.6.0.maps-big and crossfire-1.6.0.arch in /usr/share/crossfire.

The archetype file does exist , and all permissions look correct.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

the arch package does not need to be installed in that directory, it should be in a directory called arch in the server source package under /lib and is only useful if you run the collect script.
The maps should be in {where the server was installed}/share/crossfire/maps) - I am not sure if you need to untar/unzip them but they need to be there.
