I have been trying to find a holy symbol on this server since I learned that I need it to be able to pray - but it seems they simply aren't there, or am I looking in the wrong place? Or is somebody hoarding them?

As it is I - and possibly a lot of other beginners - are cut out from experiencing anything other than physical skills and low level magic. Not all that attractive in the length.

I believe Holy Symbols show up in stores at random, just like everything else.. I do believe Navar has a store to buy them..

I found the 12 necessary for the altar in my apartment in the general store of Scorn.

About every other map reset had a holy symbol in the lower left corner.

Another good spot is the store in the Titan Tower (castle ang?) that used to be located by navar on the small world maps. Not sure about it's location or availability now.

I have often found a huge pile of them in the sale shop... check there.

I found one in the well on temple street in Scorn. Not sure if that was random though, maybe I got lucky

Go into the -> Titan TC
Get up to Titans
Open chests along the way.
By the time you finish the TC, if you opened every chest, you should have at least 5 holy symbols.

Given that the OP was talking about beginners, I doubt that he would be able to cope against cyclops and titans all that easily.
